I was given this set for Christmas by a friend.
Nicely detailed set, though the figures are a little on the big side like all of the new 1/72 scale figures Italeri is producing.

I changed a few heads to give them all helmets and I'll be using them for the 1940 campaign in France - I know the uniforms are all wrong, but no-one will notice too much (hopefully) and I'll be painting them up in Field-Grey uniforms wth Panzer Grey bikes and sidecars.
The grey plastic vehicle is one I had spare, it's a Hasegawa kit if I'm not mistaken, and so I used it with a couple of spare figures.
The figure with the binoculars has a helmet grafted on from the accessories that come with the Revell German 105mm Gun & Crew.
Good luck with them John!!

Thanks a lot Thanos.

Hi Paul,
ReplyDeleteYep, I was lucky, great set.
At Xmas with some of the lads I usually game with, every year we have what's called an "Invisible Friend". We put our names in a hat, then each one draws out a name and keeps it secret. We agree on an approx. amount to spend then just after Xmas we put the presents into a bag with the name of the person who's going to receive the gift, and draw them out and you get a gift from your invisible friend - you're not supposed to know who gave you the pressie, you can only guess.
Down here we call that secret santa. Nice one. Might try that myself.

I bought this set some months back and enjoyed putting them together and painting them. Dead right the figures are a little on the large side and putting two riders on a bike kind of overshadowed the motorbikes.
ReplyDeleteI find this to be a very cool set as well, the bikes and the riders look very good. We were needing something like this in 1/72 scale.
ReplyDeleteI've been building a diorama with a 3 of them lately. I've been told the bikes "cannot" be used in an early war scenario because they have late war features. I have not investigated this thoroughly, yet.

Hi Francisco,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment and the link. Yes, the bikes and the riders by Italeri do look good.
I don't know if they really can or can't be used early war but I'm using them for wargaming and to be fair I'm not much of a historian either so it doesn't worry me too much whether they're 100% correct or not .
Great website you've got by the way.
Cheers,
John
